Description

Located near Pinehurst, Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve is a longleaf pine forest with trees that are hundreds of years old. There are around 7 miles of sandy hiking trails through the pine barrens. And over 2 miles of equestrian trails. The oldest known living longleaf pine can be found at the Boyd Tract Access. Flora and fauna include: wiregrass, longleaf pines, Sandhills pixie-moss, insectivorous purple pitcher plants, red-cockaded woodpeckers, pileated woodpeckers, and pine snakes.
