Description
Lake Norman is the largest manmade lake in North Carolina and features a nearly 31 mile single-track trail for mountain biking. Other activities at Lake Norman State Park include camping, hiking, swimming, biking, paddling, boating, fishing, picnicking, and birdwatching.

The Itsui Bike Trail is an easy to moderate 30.5-miles loop trail for both hiking and biking.
Boat rentals are available seasonally.
Flora and Fauna
There are heron rookeries on two islands that shelter over 25 great blue heron nests.

There are no fees required to access Lake Norman State Park for day use, except for boat rentals and swim passes.
Swim passes are required at Lake Norman State Park. Purchase of a swim pass includes access to the park bathhouse.
